Batjargal Batkhuyag is the Executive director of Mongolian Education Alliance (MEA). MEA exists to strengthen and sustain the network of local and international partners that contribute to open society values in the Mongolian education sector, identify underserved areas of education reform and initiate projects supporting reforms in teacher development, student centered learning, and community involvement in education. MEA is one of the leading NGOs in Mongolia dedicated to improving the quality of education for all children. MEA has been a reliable partner for international and local donor organizations in implementing projects at national, municipal and school level. Through its teacher training activities, MEA reached almost half of the teachers working in preschool, primary and secondary education.
Batjargal serves as a Board member of the Network of Education Policy Centers that promotes flexible, participatory, evidence-based, transparent education policies embedding open society values. He also is a founding member and a Board member of the "All for Education" Mongolian National Civil Society Coalition that promotes greater budgetary and programmatic transparency in the education sector, greater participation of civil society and citizens in policy development, budgeting and implementation, and institutionalization of regular communication between government, donors, NGOs and other actors.
Batjargal started his career as an English language and TEFL lecturer at the University of the Humanities, one of the main higher education institutions that train foreign language teachers in Mongolia. He completed his master's degree (in 2005) in International Educational Development at the Teachers College, Columbia University.
