Milena Mihajlovic

Milena Mihajlovic is the Executive Director of CIP-Center for Interactive Pedagogy (Republic of Serbia). She has been involved in the implementation of the Step by Step Progtram in Serbia since 1997, including creation of training modules and provision of trainings in the areas of child and learning-focused methodologies, inclusive education, ECD, communication skills, anti-stress, and psycho-social workshops. Prior to her work with Step by Step, she was a psychologocial advisor in a kindergarten and has been active in helping develop Serbia's civil society since 1995.
Ms. Mihajlovic has been very active in improving the education of Roma children in Serbia and internationally among the ISSA network. She was a member of several national Serbian expert teams for the development of a national Strategy and Action Plan for Improving the Education of Roma, local policy documents, and planning activities during the Serbian chairing of the Roma Decade. She is a member of the NGO Education Board, which was created to monitor and influence implementation of the Action Plan. Ms. Mihajlovic has conducted research on the Schooling of Children of Roma Nationality in Schools and Classrooms for Students with Developmental Difficulties. As World Bank consultant, she drafted a report Educational Needs of Roma in Serbia.
Ms. Mihajlovic is the author of 3 picture books for children: World in Me and Around Me. She has co-authored manuals for teachers: Words Are Windows or Walls: Non-violent Communication and Introduction to Compensatory Education, as well as articles in several compendiums.
Active in networking of educators, NGOs and institutions at the local level, empowerment of parent groups, and school-parent cooperation, Ms. Mihaijlovic also served as Serbia's National Representative at the . World Forum on Early Care and Education. She has served as a member of numerous ISSA expert teams for NGO Development and Strategic Planning.
