ISSA to Host Early Years Strand in 2010 Conference

ISSA is pleased to announce that it will host the Early Years strand at the upcoming conference Riga 2010: Embracing Inclusive Approaches for Children and Youth with Special Education Needs, which will take place in Riga, Latvia, 11-14 July 2010. This conference, co-hosted by ISSA, the Council for Exceptional Children Division of International Special Education and Services, and the Center for Education Initiatives, will also serve as ISSA's Annual Conference.

As early childhood issues are at the very core of ISSA's work, this strand will ensure that early childhood issues are prominently represented in the conference agenda. ISSA is pleased to share with you the concept for the Early Years strand that will serve as a forum for exchange among decision makers, education specialists, and representatives of civil society on inclusive education in the early years, with a special focus on early intervention and holistic support to the child's development and learning. The conference provides the international inclusive education community with a great opportunity to develop a strong, consolidated message about the importance of ECD policies and programs for promoting and implementing more inclusive provisions for disadvantaged young children and their families to ensure their most optimal development. This conference will tap into the wealth of experience and knowledge on these topics from around the world.
