Second ENSEC Conference: Promoting Social-Emotional Education: Practitioners and Researchers Exploring Evidence Based Practice

9-12 September 2009 – Izmir, Turkey

ENSEC is pleased to announce its Second Annual Conference, organized by the European Network for Social and Emotional Competence in collaboration with Bogazici University, the Department of Primary Education. The conference will take place in Izmir, Turkey 9-12 September 2009.

You are invited to join the practitioners, policy makers, and researchers building emotional and social capital in children and youth at this event. Hundreds of participants engaged in educational provision and effective strategies for the development of children and young people worldwide will be gathering at one of the significant centers of learning in the ancient world- Ephesus.

The 2009 conference theme: Promoting Social-Emotional Education: Practitioners and Researchers Exploring Evidence Based Practice will provide participants with the opportunity to share research and good practice in this field, and explore together the implications of evidence-based research.

There are four key conference sub-themes:

• Early intervention: building social and emotional competence from early years on through preventive programs
• Successful strategies: building effectiveness in programs and practice through personal and professional development
• Emancipatory research and practice: children and young persons as partners
• Policy and provision: developing national strategies for social and emotional education

ENSEC looks forward to sharing your insights and actions as teachers, academicians, administrators, and NGO representatives working with children, youth and professionals in related fields and disciplines.
