NGO DevelopmentISSA's NGO Development Task Force is working on developing and introducing a set of organizational standards, which will cover both professional and management spheres of participating organizationsWith input from the Civil Society Development Foundation, Hungary ISSA is developing a new quality-management system. An NGO Development Task Force was established to work on developing and introducing a set of organizational standards for ISSA members; these standards will cover both professional and management aspects for organizations. The ISSA Organizational Standards build on best practices and act as a development tool suitable for use in organizational self-evaluation and improvement. The organizational standards in ISSA's self-assessment tool address all aspects of organizational management, including strategy, organizational culture and structure, governance and leadership, human resources, advocacy, public relations, finances and office management, fund-raising, and professional services. ISSA believes that striving towards these organizational standards will make its members stronger and will also provide guarantees to external stakeholders (donors, clients, partners, etc.), thus supporting members' efforts to achieve and maintain sustainability. ISSA has also set up an Advisory Group for Professional Development to facilitate the implementation of the self-assessment tool. Members of this group met in Budapest 24-26 September. The ISSA Organizational Standards may be adapted and used by any educational organization. ISSA plans to further develop its capacity to provide consultancy services to those that wish to use self-assessment tools. |
