PartnershipsDiversity in Early Childhood Development and Training (DECET)Aija Tuna, ISSA Program Director, and Zorica Trikic, representative of the ESJ Program Committee from the Centre for Interactive Pedagogy (Serbia), participated in the DECET network conference Foundations for Equal Opportunities for All in Early Childhood and Education (Brussels, October). Zorica conducted a joint workshop with Collette Murray on “Alternative Ways of Knowing on Roma and Travelers Issues in Europe.” The conference was a great networking and planning opportunity. Several DECET work packs were shared and explored, including packs on “Professionalism” and “Parent Voices.” Participants explored future cooperation through the training program, “Democracy and Young Children: Playing Together, Coping with Conflicts, and Reconciling.” A book written by Elly Singer and Dorian de Haan with contributions from Anke van Keulen and Nienke Bekkema, “The Social Lives of Young Children: Play, Conflict and Moral Learning in Day-care Groups,” has been published with support from the Bernard van Leer Foundation. ISSA will provide copies of the book to all ISSA NGOs during the upcoming network meeting in Belgrade. |
