Dawn Tankersley

Dawn Tankersley, Ed.D. is a Program Specialist with the International Step by Step Association (ISSA) where she has worked since 1999. She has worked in many capacities in the field of early childhood education, including as a preschool and primary school teacher, teacher trainer, curriculum developer, project consultant, and author of teacher training materials and guidebooks, articles, and activity books for and related to young children. Her areas of expertise in early childhood include bilingual and multicultural/intercultural education, literacy development, working with marginalized groups, and professional development and teacher competences in quality pedagogy.

She believes that early childhood educators can change the world through empowering children and parents and giving them more voice in the educational process. She believes that through this empowerment, teachers can create a system that is more inclusive and equitable and where all can thrive and develop to their maximum potential. She is excited about this online course and sees it as an effective way to reach more early childhood educators to help them develop new skills and knowledge that will create this change.
