We are at an unprecedented moment in history. Across the world, children and young people are grappling with bleak mix of mental health, the climate crisis as well as the economic and social impact of Covid-19 and worsening inequality.
As policymakers and business leaders begin to plan for a post-covid economic recovery, we urge them to keep the needs of children and young people front and center; to renew commitment to child rights and reimagine the future. If we truly want a robust recovery and the fairer, greener future envisioned by the Global Goals, we must change course and do it quickly.
Please save the date for the inaugural Global Children’s Event,* to be held virtually from 7 to 9 December 2021.
The Global Children’s Event will convene leaders from the United Nations, governments, business, philanthropy and civil society alongside authors, artists and critically, children and young people themselves, to:
- Focus the world’s attention on the urgent needs of children and young people
- Commit to concrete action to advance child rights and meet the ambition of the Global Goals
- Mobilize the transformational resources required to turn vision into reality.
The Global Children’s Event will provide a platform for partners to come together to review the state of the world’s children, report on progress, and make and inspire meaningful commitments, with opportunities to connect and incubate ideas in-between.
