International conference on children’s rights in alternative care

The international conference on Children’s Rights in Alternative Care, “Walk the Talk” took place on 8 November in Paris. The event was the closing conference of an international project co-funded by the European Commission and coordinated by SOS Children’s Villages International. Several countries from the network of SOS Children’s Villages CEE/CIS, a member of ISSA were involved in the project implementation. On behalf of the ISSA Secretariat, Éva Izsák, Membership Officer attended the event. The conference served as a platform for professionals to continue the dialogue on how to raise the capacity of the children’s social care workforce and how child rights should be embedded in their work. The importance of child participation and involvement was emphasized during all speeches and discussions, as the key to meet the fundamental needs of children.
