Investment in the early years highlighted at World Bank roundtable

ISSA Member, Center for Education and Professional Development (CEPD) was represented by Radu Enache, former Managing Director and Administrator of Hewlett Packard Romania, at the Roundtable on Investing in the Early Years: Identifying Synergies and Catalyzing Action. The roundtable, held April 19th, aimed to convene leaders from vital global agencies, civil society organizations, foundations and the private sector who understand that investing in the early years is imperative in order to enable countries to succeed in the 4th industrial revolution. Mr. Enache spoke about the private sector interest in early childhood education. He also discussed the limited training for teachers, difficulties in creating quality education and barriers to working in the Roma community. He stresses that there is much to be done. He mentions that getting in touch with Step by Step Centre for Education and Professional Development and Ready Nation Foundation helped him recognize that early childhood education is crucial, “…not only for the labor force, it is the key for the development of the human being; for kids, for the future and for families.” The partnership between Step by Step Centre for Education and Professional Development and Ready Nation Foundation has developed a network of 30 representatives from the business sector advocating for more funds for early years services for children birth-six.
