To get the best possible insight into the quality level of child care, validated observation instruments, questionnaires and video recordings will be used. Observation instruments such as the Classroom Assessment Scoring System (CLASS), Infant/Toddler Environment Rating Scale (ITERS-R) and Early Childhood Environment Rating Scale (ECERS-R) provide opportunities for international comparison. All forms of childcare will be included in the monitor, i.e. also after-school care and childminders and host parents. Another novelty is that children’s evaluations will be collected as well: how do they experience the quality?
