"The role of Gender"-workshop took place in Belgrade

On the 9th and 10th of November, another successful workshop took place in Belgrade, Serbia. This workshop focused on the new module 'The role of Gender' under the Home Visiting Package 'Supporting Families for Nuturing Care' and was created for National Master Trainers from different countries. ISSA organized this in close cooperation with UNICEF ECARO (Europe and Central Asia Regional Office) and UNICEF Country Office in Serbia.

The lead trainers were Zorica Trikic (ISSA Senior Program Manager), Maha Muna, (UNICEF ECARO's Senior Advisor on Gender and health), Bettina Schwethelm, (ECARO specialist for ECD) and Elizabeth Doggett, (consultant from the USA). During the workshop, a new resource module for home visitors " GIRLS, BOYS, WOMEN, AND MEN: GENDER ISSUES IN EARLY CHILDHOOD AND PARENTING" was presented and discussed.

Participants from 9 countries -Albania, Croatia, Georgia, Kyrgyzstan, Macedonia, Moldova, Montenegro, Uzbekistan, and Serbia-, attended the workshop. According to them, the workshop was very inspiring but also challenging: it required a lot of self-reflection and exploration of personal attitudes and understandings of gender issues and gender socialization.

Relevant materials from the workshop will be shared with ISSA members.
