Founded in 2018 by parents of children with Down syndrome, a new ISSA Member “Open Hearts” is a National Public Organization in Tajikistan that provides help and support to their children. It empowers kids with disabilities to improve the quality of their lives by promoting their social, educational, and economic inclusion.

During New Year’s celebrations at school at our Resource Centre we had a guest visitor from the Education Department. Near the end she came up to me and asked me: ‘Where are your children?’ I was confused and didn’t know if she was asking about my own children. But then, she said: ‘You work with disabled children, no? Where are they now?’

We are thrilled to welcome IRODA to the ISSA network! This member organisation from Tajikistan wants to ensure that people with autism have access to quality services appropriate for their unique needs. IRODA aims to see children with autism treated with dignity and respect, as valued members of society. IRODA was established in 2011 and is currently the only center providing autism-specific services in Tajikistan.
