ISSA Conference 2024 Visa Information
General Requirements
Foreigner travelers can enter Bulgaria with a regular foreign travel document and, if required, a visa.
EU citizens can enter Bulgaria with a valid ID card or passport.
No visa is needed for citizens of the EU, the USA, Canada, Australia, and several other countries. A current list of countries whose citizens require visas to enter Bulgaria can be found here.
Bulgaria follows the EU's common visa policy. Holders of Schengen visas can stay for up to three months within a six-month period.
Effective March 31, 2024, Bulgaria will partially join the Schengen Area, easing air and sea travel between Bulgaria and Schengen countries. Until further notice, border checks will continue to apply for any land-based travel between Bulgaria and other Schengen Area countries.
Following further guidance from EU officials, Bulgaria is expected to start issuing uniform Schengen C visas from April 1, 2024.
Visa Application Process
Conference participants needing a visa should apply for a short-stay visa (Type āCā) for the ISSA Conference 2024 in Sofia.
The visa allows stays of up to 90 days within a six-month period.
Documents required for the visa application include a travel document, proof of financial resources, and an insurance policy.
Invitation Declaration
For business visits, an invitation declaration is needed, signed and stamped by the inviting person, legalized by a notary judge, and verified by the Migration Directorate of the Ministry of Interior.
Visa Issuing
Travel documents must be valid for at least three months beyond the intended departure date.
